Marta Hidalgo is coming to TLC Academy!
Marta is a master of modelling chocolate, having won multiple awards for her work, including Cake Artist of the Year Award Cake Masters Magazine 2019; Sculpted Cake Award Cake Masters Magazine 2018; first prize and gold in Collaboration Australia 2017; and silver prize in Cake International 2017. She has also been featured as a judge in Cake Masters Magazine’s 2020 Cake Design Contest.
However, Marta’s original dream was not to be a cake artist, instead aiming to become a cartoonist. In her own words: “When I was a cartoonist creating layouts and storyboards, I never thought I would end up being a cake artist. But the minute I laid my hands on modelling chocolate, something inside of me awakened.” From then on, Marta was hooked.
She has stated that she has been passionate about modelling since she was studying Fine Arts, and the only difference between her work then versus now is that she is simply modelling “with edible materials,” rather than mediums such as clay. Marta adds that “I think my academic formation in drawing and art in general is reflected in my creations.”
Her positive influence over the world of cake and modelling chocolate reaches far and wide. Marta has taught in many different countries around the world including: USA, Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Portugal, Australia, UK, Turkey, China, Nederland, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland. Regarding her international work, Marta says that “After one year I was asked to teach all over the world.”
In Marta’s own words, “I love what I do and my wish for the future is keep learning and teaching my passion for modeling and cake decorating.”
